Literature Text

You sentenced my heart to die
For the crime of trusting you too deeply
For not knowing or not believing
You could ever do me so heinously wrong

What a dire curse you have cast upon my face
To wake up in the morning and mourn my fate
Disastrous mess of hate flying every which way
Cursing the moment my smiles went away

I know you have a guilty conscience
But is it better or worse to know it’s wrong
And act on selfish desires regardless
And let yourself face the consequences?

You burn bridges down and raise your walls up high
You watch it burn and mask a smile
You’ll regret it later, so you bask in its heat for the moment
Waiting for your guilty conscience to bring the regret

I love your blind fire, your radiating essence
But your wandering heart leaves me to lament
Your poor judgment, your callous recklessness
My heart is yours, but its fate then rests in your unsteady hands

I know you have a guilty conscience
But is it better or worse to know it’s wrong
And act on selfish desires regardless
And let yourself face the consequences?

I know you have a guilty conscience
But is it better or worse to know it’s wrong
And act on selfish desires regardless
And let yourself face the consequences?

Take a moment and look who you were to me
Take a long, hard look into what it’s done to me
My love has always yet bore me through
But my heart’s fate still squarely rests with you

I know you have a guilty conscience
But is it better or worse to know it’s wrong
And act on selfish desires regardless
And let yourself face the consequences?

I know you have a guilty conscience
But is it better or worse to know it’s wrong
And act on selfish desires regardless
And let yourself face the consequences?

My love has always yet bore me through
But my heart’s fate still squarely rests with you
